TEMPEST - Infinite Archive Warden Build

Written guide updated for update 41: Q1 2024

This brand new ESO Warden Build for the Infinite Archive is an absolute SNOW STORM of a build! Taking full advantage of update 41 buffs to status and stacking plenty of aoe/single target devastation to all!

This is technically a side effect of the Nature’s Bounty build, with a very similar design but the stats have been literally FLIPPED! Instead of very tanky and can blow up rooms…it can now blow up BUILDINGS while being relatively tanky for the smaller or more block hungry stuff!

It is a DPS build with FULL tanky block mitigation passives in tact! So yes, your survival is a LOT higher than a regular dps character and you sacrifice NO damage for doing so!

The simple idea of the build is this, lay down your dots. Keep up your buffs, and get every enemy as close together as possible.

Do this and the archive is  CAKE WALK!

The most important thing to remember about this build is that your buffs are in YOUR control, it’s not a one bar setup, and above all, your sets will NOT be firing unless you are maintaining your ground AOE skills. BUT the good thing is you don’t have to SPAM. Everything is duration based, SO let the timers do the work! If you really want to SPAM, you can light attack spam your Elemental Susceptibility all day long for FREE! Don’t spam duration skills!

The benefits we have to the weapon choices speak for themselves, but for those that don’t under stand them, it’s as simple as this. While using an ice staff with destruction staff passives, you BLOCK with your magicka bar.
All other weapons block with stamina. How does that help us? Simple. While blocking on the front bar, we have full block mitigation bonuses, the recovery for THAT bar stops until we let go of block. However, when we are on the BACK bar, the opposite resource is spent and the recovery for the other is back ON! So that means we have TWO bars we can block on and balance/control/utilize TWO bars of resources rather than one. You can actually actively block on the sword n board bar with stamina while your magicka is recovery and have NO negative effect towards it. It’s solid and MUCH more forgiving than the traditional tanky methods.

Important points and benefits of the build:

  • Tank block bonuses at ALL times!
  • Two resources bars for blocking, meaning which you are on, the OTHER recovers!
  • Massive crowd control capability with an abundance of snares and stuns!
  • Rapid fire damage over time from stacked dots encouraging your sets to machine gun trigger over and over without cool downs!
  • HUGE status damage with update 41 pushing this build to it’s absolute LIMITS!
  • More status means MORE ultimate regen based on monster set choice. You can SPAM your ultimates if you pick up the right buffs.
  • SOLID healing from burst heals, light and heavy attack heals, ultimate and race heals, at the same time as being able to protect yourself and/or an ally

This is the Ultimate focused Efforts WEAPON for the infinite archive!

Champion Points

The video below explains how the changes work in more detail. Of course, over time, additions will be and have already been made to the system but the main BASE of it is the same.

  • Wrathful Strikes
  • Deadly Aim
  • Thaumaturge
  • Ironclad/Exploiter

Maximizing damage potential for the build without defensive bonuses is a risk, but you can switch out for more survival if you prefer.

  • Rationer
  • Liquid Efficiency
  • Treasure Hunter
  • Steed’s Blessing

These really are up to you but these are most useful IN content for loot and movement if not in combat.
What you do with this tree is NOT make or break for mechanics or combat in general just quality of life.

  • Boundless Vitality
  • Fortified
  • Bloody Renewal
  • Siphoning Spells

Pushing for armor and health bonuses alongside high resource management.

Poisons, Potions, & Food

Potions really are up to you but they DO offer recovery/sustain while giving a burst of stamina/mag/health back at the same time depending on the choice of potion. I would highly recommend using Tripots if you can afford them BUT you can of course use trash magicka pots depending on how comfortable you are with your resources.

Columbine + Mountain Flower + Bugloss + Lorkhan’s Tears

Max health and max Magicka Food
         Minstral Banana-Bunny  Hash – Small game(1) + Bananas(2) + Seasoning(3)
         Melon-Baked Parmesan Pork – White Meat(1) + Melon(2) + Cheese(3)
         Solitude Salmon-Millet Soup – Fish(1) + Tomato(2) + Millet(3)

If you would like to make your own potions, I now have a fully functioning potion maker on the website. Here you can TEST any combination of potion or poison you like and check the outcome without having to know the combinations in-game! How to play!

Unlike most builds where you have to focus on a ROTATION, this is very much an active gameplay style given that the infinite archive changes ALL of the time and you have to play on instinct and awareness.

With that in mind, you simply play as THIS…

Maintain your blue betty, Ice fortress and Lotus Blossom(if using it). Never let those run out, and never let your potion run out.

Apart from that, be sure that your ground based AOE skills are stacked on top of each other and you put them ON the enemy OR keep the enemy inside of them (like a trap). This will make everything explode.

Maintain your Arctic blast and always use it approaching enemies to allow for stun and control, and reactivate it when you need to for a heal.

Heavy attack when needed to give you resources and damage shields, and remember blocking on the ICE staff, costs magicka, and blocking on the Sword N Boad bar blocks with stamina.

Use that to your advantage when one or the other is lower!

This will take practice, but maintain dots, keep up buffs, and use susceptibility as a spamable on big targets! GOOD LUCK!

Gear Setup

Below is a chart showing the overall gear set-up, noting the optimal set requirements in terms of weight, enchants & traits!

We are using the Theif Mundus stone. However, if you favor more survival you can go with the Lady, and if you want more health you can go with the Lord!  All 64 Attribute points go into Magicka.

We are an Orc but other races are also usable. Breton, Nord, High Elf, Argonian, or Imperial are other good choices BUT you will have to find the other missing resistance in your champion points (if using a race with no resists) and/or trait changes which WILL affect the build overall.
