Status Pro - ONE BAR Magika Nightblade Build
Written guide updated for : Update 39 Q3 2023
The Status Pro build is all about simplicity and efficiency in a very simple package! An easy way to default interrupt enemies, apply much needed status effects for you AND the group, and make things far less complicated than ever before for the Nightblade enthusiasts still struggling with making their builds WORK!
There are two variations to the build that are pretty much the same in regards to rotation/application, but allows for people to be either full single target OR a mixture of single target + aoe at the same time as pushing for more survival.
It really is up to you but this is for ANYONE that wants to make Nightblades easier. This is designed for ALL content and there is nothing in the game it cannot do, regardless of the difficulty!
YES that includes Hard Modes and trifectas, even if that one guy on facebook is trying to force you to believe you CAN’T because they are the only ones allowed to get online validation for their achievements 😉
The only thing preventing you from achieving your goals is YOUR ability to follow mechanics!
Important points:
- High Single target damage with an EASY rotation!
- Options for AOE and more Survival if necessary
- HUGE bonuses to status effect damage with new flame staff passives
- Easy to use for new and experienced players
- Capable of ALL PVE content regardless of difficulty!
- Decent resistances and constant buffs with no down times with the Oakensoul ring
- Less complications allows for more time to think during stressful or difficult mechanics!
- The easiest build to TEACH newer or lesser experienced players HOW to make use of a tricky to use set!
Good luck and enjoy!
Fashion First!
As demonstrated in the video, our fabulous setup and dress choice for this character is as follows:
Head: Hidden
Shoulders: Light Fang Lair
Chest: Ancient Orc Robe
Legs: NO PANTS!
Hands: Light Imperial 1
Belt: Light Dro’Mathra
Feet: Light Dro’Mathra
Staff: Bloodrage Staff
The two colours we are using are Legates Black and Cardsharp Red.
Skills
Destruction Staff
1) Debilitate or Unstable Wall of Elements
2) Barbed Trap
3) Relentless Focus
4) Crushing Shock or Swallow Soul
5) Impale
Ultimate – Incapacitating Strike
Important: As mentioned in the video, you can use the Asylum staff OR the Maelstrom staff, but if you do so you will need to swap your skills.
Swap Debilitate to Unstable wall of elements and Crushing Shock to Swallow Soul if you use the Maelstrom Staff. Bare in mind your resources will be drained a little more so don’t forget to weave in a heavy attack every so often to take advantage of the resource return AND the free damage over time from the flame staff passives!
NOTE:
Champion Points 2.0
This build doesn’t STRICTLY require any champion points at all, you don’t NEED damage bonuses because everything is a one-shot, and you don’t NEED resistances because you should never get hit…BUT unlike most builds, taking advantage of the GREEN champion points trees actually benefits us for the overall performance of the character rather than just “quality of life” slotables.
Below I will note VERY briefly what you should strive for!
While along the way you CAN get basic passives to help you with stealth detection etc, you have invisibility on tap ANYWAY so it trumps the detection radius for the time being while you are leveling!
So long as you understand the setup, everything is really done for you, just a case of standing in the right place and not hanging around if you get spotted!
SLOTABLES!
While the blue and red trees are not essential like they would be on most builds, the green tree for a change is where things really shine. Below are the main slotables you should aim for while growing your Champion Point levels.
- Wrathful Strikes
- Untamed Aggression
- Thaumaturge
- Deadly Aim
- Liquid Efficiency
- Rationer
- Treasure Hunter
- Steed’s Blessing
- Boundless Vitality
- Rejuvenation
- Fortified
- Siphoning Spells
Rotation
Be sure in combat to always maintain your Trap Beast and Debilitate. Outside of that it is pretty simple, just spam Light Attack followed by Crushing Shock, over and over.
If you want to make use of the Spectral bow from Relentless Focus, then you can press Light Attack followed by the bow if it is lit up (or after 5 light attack stacks) for the burst damage and heal. BUT if you want to keep it so you can retain the 400 weapon and spell damage with no drops, then just continue to fire Light Attack, Crushing shock, pretty much indefinitely while maintaining your two dots.
The rotation is fully explained in the video but it is very straight forward. Again the only difference is if you want to use the heal in emergencies for the bow, OR actively use it for more damage.
At execute, (25% health) you should swap to spamming Light Attack, Impale.
You need to maintain your two dots (Trap Beast and Debilitate) but essentially this is the kill part of the rotation so keep hitting!
If you are using the Asylum staff you can weave in 2 crushing shocks every 5 seconds or so in order to keep up status effects, but that is not 100% essential. If you are using the Maelstrom staff and utilizing Swallow Soul, then just keep hitting Light Attack and Impale, BUT you can squeeze in one swallow soul every 10seconds if you want for the heal 🙂
Important!
Be sure once every 20 seconds or so (preferably during off balance periods) to fire off a single heavy attack. This will help maintain your resources AND give you a free damage over time effect from the flame staff passives.
Poisons, Potions & Food
If you want to use potions, you should be using TRI-POTS all day long! You will get resources back for all 3 stats and also gain major recovery for the potion’s duration for all 3 stats. Do NOT let your potion run out, it is vital to your sustainability that you maintain those buffs. Don’t be cheap, use your potions!
Tri-pots – Columbine + Mountain Flower + Bugloss + Lorkhan’s Tears
Flat food –
Sticky Pork And Radish Noodles – White Meat(1) + Radish(2) + Flour(3)
Garlic Cod with Potato Crust – Fish(1) + Potato(2) + Garlic(3)
Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables – Small Game(1) + Greens(2) + Seasoning(3)
If you would like to make your own potions, I now have a fully functioning potion maker on the website. Here you can TEST any combination of potion or poison you like and check the outcome without having to know the combinations in-game! Check here for the App, working on Andriod and IOS – Potion Maker
Gear Setup
Below is a chart showing the overall gear set-up, noting the optimal set requirements in terms of weight, enchants & traits!
We are using the Thief Mundus stone as explained in the video. All 64 points are in magicka!
We are a High Elf! You can be any race you like, as explained in the video, but consider their minor bonuses will be the only difference. Orc, Nord, Argonian, and Imperials are all good choices.
Slot | Gear Set | Weight | Trait | Enchantment |
---|---|---|---|---|
Head | Zaan | Light | Divines | Max Magicka |
Shoulders | Zaan | Light | Divines | Max Magicka |
Chest | Arms of Relequen | Medium | Divines | Max Magicka |
Waist | Arms of Relequen | Medium | Divines | Max Magicka |
Hands | Arms of Relequen | Medium | Divines | Max Magicka |
Legs | Arms of Relequen | Medium | Divines | Max Magicka |
Feet | Arms of Relequen | Medium | Divines | Max Magicka |
Ring 1 | Oakensoul Ring | Jewelry | Bloodthirsty | Max Magicka |
Ring 2 | Willpower | Jewelry | Bloodthirsty | Max Magicka |
Necklace | Willpower | Jewelry | Bloodthirsty | Max Magicka |
Weapon 1 | Asylum Infero Staff / Maelstrom Infero Staff | Inferno Staff | Precise | Poison |
Important: Be sure to ALWAYS fire a light attack between skills. This will help build your relentless focus stack AND maintain Relequen.
Relequen is considered an advanced set because of the way that it is applied, since you need to light or heavy attack every 5 seconds MINIMUM and most people don’t maintain that in content. However because this build is designed to NEED light attacks and heavy attacks in order to stack up your Relentless focus ( no stacks no bonus) this is the PERFECT time to learn how to use it!
Learning on this build will give you full awareness of it’s application, and potential. Which means one of two things will happen in your favour. You will get better at THIS build, OR you will be trained to be better at OTHER more advanced builds if you prefer.
Don’t worry it can be acquired on NORMAL difficulty and does NOT require the perfected version as the perfected version offers NO increase to dps at ALL as it is a stamina increase not a magicka increase.
Also bare in mind BOTH the variations of the front bar weapons can be acquired on NORMAL difficulty. Yes their perfected versions have a minor stat bonus, but their overall bonus is the same for the actual proc/skill increase. So start THERE and work up if you need to.
Gear Locations
Other sets??!
As mentioned in the video, you are not really restricted to set choices, there are hundreds in the game but this build makes FLAWLESS use of the Relequen set and WILL teach people to be better players with it. MOST people use it on the dummy but FAIL in content, this teaches you to use it else your skills fail.
However while that is the goal you are not restricted to that set. Literally anything you put on will allow the build to FUNCTION but will give different results output wise. So if you are farming the set for now, utilize ANYTHING else you fancy for the time being. It won’t be better single target wise but it will WORK fine for now!
Also note, if people want someone to bring elemental catalyst and you don’t have someone using it? YOU can guarantee it’s uptime because crushing shock makes all 3 bonuses proc 100% of the time. SO, you’ve got options!
Use what works for you BUT strive for Relequen if you can!
