Lazy Sorc - One Bar Sorcerer PVE Build

Written guide and video updated for Update 39: Q3 2023

Playing the game has NEVER been SO EASY!

The first MAJOR build on the channel to claim the hype train for being viable for ALL content with EASE of use, was of course the ever famous, “Easy Sorc”.

It was “DESIGNED” (yes read that word correctly “designed”) with a purpose. The Purpose was to provide a viable option for DPS that was EASY for ALL content no matter who used it (new or advanced players) but also covered the other important variables that contribute to a build’s survival, sustainability and manoeuvrability without sacrificing too much of anything else.
In essence a TABOO in gaming, “BALANCE!”

Six Years later the Easy Sorc is still one of the most popular builds in the WORLD (fact, look it up). Then Oakensoul happened…
A ring, with SO many buffs on it you barely had to try to fit them all in with your group, BUT with the side effect of “you can only have one bar”! So you are limited to 5x skills and an ultimate.

How do you close that gap? HOW do you make those important sacrificial decisions to decide what to use and what not to use when you have so many options in the first place?
Well, we nailed it! Not only WAS the Easy Sorc (formally known as the Easy Mode Sorcerer) already successful, but it STILL had room for adaptation and improvement so that MORE players could benefit from it’s simplicity and capability than ever before!

This is officially the ONE bar variant of THAT build, and is now known quite literally as the EASIEST one bar build in the world to USE! (NOTE: I didn’t say highest dps, tankiest character, biggest heals, i said “EASIEST” and it 100% is).

All you need to maintain, is one buff, one damage skill, and a constant heavy attack! Everything else about the build has built in survival, sustainability, single target and aoe damage, on TAP! You have to do literally nothing in order to perform. No complex rotations, no micro managing, no bar swapping, no difficult to get gear, it’s ALL there!

This has been designed so intricately that there are no gaps and literally everything you will ever need is already there! The application of it however is almost dumb. It is so simple a 3 year old could do it!

WHY make things so simple?

Well first of all WHY make it DIFFICULT when you don’t need to? Making problems for the sake of it isn’t a smart way to play is it? And secondly because i KNOW what the playerbase is capable of. I know where the ceiling is, i know where the floor is, and regardless of what people assume in their NSFW discord channels is “average”…The “average” is in fact the floor. Either LOW dps OR dead.

I needed to fix BOTH of those problems.. SO, i came to realise a long time ago that the issue was not that people cannot do damage. The issue is they cannot do damage AND follow mechanics at the same time! They look great on the dummy but in content they are a carpet because too much is going on and they cannot focus on all the flashing lights.

OR perhaps it goes personally further than that. Some people cannot do dps because they are focusing so much on mechanics and they are not fully physically able to press lots of buttons in a special sequence in order to perform at the same time as all the other junk…

Yes, MOBILITY! Many players have mobility issues.
So, i have designed a build that is so simple and loaded with everything you need, that if you are lesser skilled, have a hard time taking in lots of information, have mobility issues, or just want something EASY to play, it is 100% capable of every single piece of content in the entire game…

IF any of the above is what you have been looking for…THIS IS FOR YOU!!

Don’t worry about people sitting there trying to force feed you the “that’s not viable” crap, we all know those same people:
1) Don’t know how to use that word properly.
2) Have been using this stuff anyway despite their efforts to stop you (That’s a fact by the way, check the internet, double standards are exhausting).

This game is for YOU to play YOUR own way. And if you cannot figure out what that is, this is a good place to start. It opens up ALL content and ALL difficulties for you with an extremely simple and effective build.

THIS will give YOU time to see what the hell is going on inside mechanics and allow you to perform flawlessly damage wise at the same time! Quite literally WIN WIN!

So if you want to get ANYTHING in the game done, without cutting off your nose to spite your face, and you are looking for something manageable and capable at the same time rather than spending WEEKS on a dummy to no avail, check out the build!

You will NOT be disappointed!!!

Don’t sit the on the dummy all day every day wasting time with rigged variables to tick a magic box that doesn’t exist. You don’t need the practice for putting down a wall or elements and heavy attacking. You just need to go kill sh*t! Good luck!

A few points:-

  • HIGH sustain! Heavy attacks return resources and do damage at the same time, DOUBLE resources when the target is off balance.

  • Good single target damage.

  • INCREDIBLE AOE damage! (if applied correctly) with the ability to get IN the face of the enemy!

  • Tanky resists and hps

  • Self heals from damage every second IF you slot crit surge!

  • Damage is applied EASILY with a heavy attack ONE damage over time skill.

  • New player-friendly! Disability friendly, capable of ALL content including hardmodes and trifectas

  • With practice, you can SOLO pretty much anything that doesn’t require group mechanics!

  • ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS! Arenas, trials, dungeons, anything! Is there for the taking!

  • ALL GEAR on NORMAL difficulty due to us having the freedom to upgrade ANY armor and ANY jewelry/weapons we get!

The trial gear is much easier to get on NORMAL! Pugs run normal all the time! Join pickup trials, or shout out in local and host your own! We can simply UPGRADE the blue stuff to whatever we want…get to local zone chat, let people know you are doing it, and tell them what roles you need to complete it. You can build a pickup trial from randomers in NO time and normal is a breeze in comparison to the scary veteran difficulty stuff. Get stuck in!

The good thing is, the trial gear option is actually NOT requiring any weapons or jewellery from a trial, so you don’t even NEED the last boss! Kill a couple bosses, and if not lucky, you CAN restart and go again, OR perhaps you want to fill up the sticker book, and find a few more chests. It’s literally up to you, no stress!

Champion Points 2.0

The NEW Champion Points 2.0 introduced in the Q1 2021 DLC: Flames Of Ambition is quite possibly the BIGGEST change/addition to The Elder Scrolls Online since One Tamriel! And these were further altered in the Blackwood Chapter, giving us a lower base for capping out some of the essentials and also adding some more slotables!

Before it was a case of “I have limited points as a CP, so HOW should I spend them”? Now that is NOT the case as SUCH! Now, it is a case of, buy ALL the things, but which SLOTABLES should you take?

Everything before was a passive bonus with huge diminished returns, awkward calculations, and was messy to all players for the most part. The new system underlines NO diminished returns, no majorly confusing passives, and the ability to buy EVERY single passive available for tanking, DPS, and healing on the SAME character with enough points to spare for buying slotables. Being able to slot 4x special slotables from each tree when there are an abundance of them means you are only limited by your CHOICES, not by your CP.

Buy all the passives, CHOOSE which slotables to take vs the situation, and the rest of the points are spare. Or are they? Well here is the crunch…Once you go over 1800ish (depending on slotable choices, some are more expensive in the Craft tree) you basically have every single passive available PLUS 4 slotables per tree…

If you JUST wanted to focus on combat alone (all red and blue passives and 4 slotables for each one) you only actually need around 1600cp to be completely maxed in those areas. And if you wanted to go FULL glass cannon, only really focusing on one damage type you can achieve your max potential for that as low as 900 or so! You won’t have any resistances or healing bonuses from the Warfare (blue) tree doing this, but you can at least cap out the hard-hitting stuff, right? And this is considering slotables too so there is no harm in actually deliberately specing for a couple of damage resistance slotables instead even at THIS stage.

For tanking it is even easier! Push for your slotables and stack your resistance passives and it is game over! The rest are just a bonus!

So what’s next? Well, if you have higher champion points you can buy more slotables and switch stuff per situation as and when needed. If you don’t, then if you want to swap it will cost you gold for respecing. So in a nutshell, 1650-1800 (depending on build) is you’re pretty much done! Anything else is convenient due to not needing to spend gold swapping things you already have access to! How cool is that?

No matter what, THESE are the most important parts of the Champion Points 2.0 system. So this is your main FIRST goal when pushing for the build. You need to slot these even if they are not max level. However, there are swap-outs for situations as explained in the video.

BLUE (Warfare) are important for resistance, heals, and damage. Red (Fitness) are important for resources, health, and Crowd Control counters. Green (Craft) are literally quality of life! (aka your choice so not THAT important for combat).

It doesn’t matter what level you are at anymore, you can play ALL content regardless of your champion points level because during Flames of Ambition all players/characters had their base stats improved to make everyone somewhat more balanced at lower levels.

However, as mentioned above, the slotables are your main goal. Unlock the prerequisite passives to unlock access to your slotables if there are any…fill them up, and then just grab the remaining passives as you go.

300, 600, 900 champion points are not really important as checkpoints anymore for optimization. Just fill as you go, because ALL characters can have ALL passives with NO negative effects unlike before!

What should I aim for with this build?

  • Wrathful Strikes
  • Backstabber/Fighting Finesse
  • Deadly Aim
  • Weapon’s Expert
  • Rationer
  • Liquid Efficiency
  • Treasure Hunter
  • Steed’s Blessing

  • Boundless Vitality
  • Bloody Renewal
  • Fortified
  • Siphoning Spells

The video below explains how the changes work in more detail. Of course, over time, additions will be and have already been made to the system but the main BASE of it is the same.

As explained in the video go to the combat section, activate ability timers, so that you can see when stuff is about to run out.

Activate Critical Surge, and maintain it once every 33 seconds.

Apart from that all you need to do is…

Apply Unstable wall of elements, Heavy attack 3x…Start again!

I did mention in the video in the rotation section about recasting the wall to take advantage of the explosion and if you wanted to do that all you do is basically never let go of the heavy attack, and queue up the wall of elements during the heavy by pressing it. It will fire when it is ready.

Rinse repeat!

Check the time stamp in the video for more info.

Execute Rotation

Below 20% health on targets, simply maintain the unstable wall of elements every 10 seconds.
And at the end of every heavy attack, apply Mages Wrath.

To make this a smooth transition, as explained above and in the video, you can queue it up DURING a heavy attack and it will fire flawlessly on global cool down at the end.

Easy peasy!!!!

Poisons, Potions, & Food

You can use Tristat pots for a combination of the above and some health back OR if you are really fancy and going for the squishier mode as mentioned in the video…you can make spell pots.

Food is very simple, the highest level food you can consume with 2 stats only, MAX health and MAX magicka. There are 3 variations of recipes but all are the same in the stats they give so your choice of which one you use.

Columbine + Mountain Flower + Bugloss + Lorkans Tears

Spell pots:
Lady Smock + Water Hyacinth + Cornflower + Lorkhan’s Tears

Minstral Banana-Bunny  Hash – Small game(1) + Bananas(2) + Seasoning(3)
Melon-Baked Parmesan Pork – White Meat(1) + Melon(2) + Cheese(3)
Solitude Salmon-Millet Soup – Fish(1) + Tomato(2) + Millet(3)

If you would like to make your own potions, I now have a fully functioning potion maker on the website. Here you can TEST any combination of potion or poison you like and check the outcome without having to know the combinations in-game! Check here for the App, working on Android and IOS – Potion Maker
