ESO Race: Breton
Learn about the Breton race in The Elder Scrolls Online. Each ESO race comes with its own unique passives. What do Bretons offer?
Bretons As An ESO Race Option
Bretons are part of the Daggerfall Covenant faction in The Elder Scrolls Online. This faction was created by a pack between the people of northwestern Tamriel which includes Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs. The symbol of the Daggerfall Covenant is a lion. The colors of the Covenant are blue and silver.
Lore says that the areas of High Rock, the Kingdom of Orsinium, and the Kingdom of Sentinel developed this alliance to use its military for securing lucrative trade routes. Players selecting this faction will begin in Stros M’Kai after their escape from Coldharbour.
Historial Background Of The Bretons
Originating in High Rock, the human men and women were once ruled by High Elf overlords. In fact, it is said that some elven bloodlines exist in the modern-day Bretons. This unique characteristic gives them an innate grasp of magic making them different from other human races. Bretons were once known as Manmeri.
Bretons are considered intelligent, resourceful, passionate, and sometimes flamboyant. Bretons are often renowned craftsmen, gallant cavaliers, shrewd merchants, and inventive wizards. They can also be proud and quarrelsome.
Lore tells us that Bretons are known for abstract thinking, and have a quick grasp of all things magicka including spellcraft, enchantment, and alchemy. The Breton race also boasts a high resistance to destructive and dominating magical energies.
Bretons are generally pale-skinned and thin humans, much less muscular than Nords or Redguards. Bretons as a race are fractured politically but are unified by language, bardic traditions, and sharing heroic tales. Many call them mongrels due to their mixed heritage.

Within the game, Breton are described as: The racial skills of the Bretons reflect their affinity for the arcane, increasing their base magicka, magicka recovery, light armor, alliance point gain, spell resistance, and cost reduction of spells, allowing them to cast spells with little pause.
