Spawn of Mephala – Fungal Grotto II Boss
Overview
Spawn of Mephala is a simple but chaotic fight that punishes players who panic or run around the room unnecessarily. Staying disciplined and holding position is key — movement control decides whether this boss is easy or a wipe-fest.
The tank should hold the boss steady for the entire fight and keep her away from the portal at the back of the room. The group should only move when absolutely required, as positioning determines who gets pulled into the portal phase.
Mechanics
Heavy Attack – This is a simple but dangerous strike. No matter your role, block it if it’s directed at you. Ideally this should always land on the tank — failure to block results in a knockdown and potentially lethal damage.
Portal – The portal behind the boss will repeatedly open and suck in the closest player. Once inside, that player must defeat roughly 7–8 spiders before they can exit and rejoin the fight. This continues until the boss is near low health. Make sure a capable DPS gets pulled in — positioning decides who it will be. Fix your group positions early and avoid running around unnecessarily to prevent confusion.
Burst – The Spawn of Mephala occasionally emits a large AoE explosion from her body, dealing heavy damage and knocking players back. Tanks can block this, but everyone else should move out of range when she starts the animation.
Bomb – The boss will attach a glowing tether to a random player that follows them around the arena. This beam eventually explodes — kite it safely until detonation, then return to position. If the beam connects with another player, both take high damage; if it overlaps with the Burst at the same time, it’s a guaranteed kill. Stay alert and keep space between players.
Tips & Strategy
- Tank: Hold her steady, away from the portal. Block all heavy attacks and maintain awareness of the Burst timing.
- DPS: If you’re the one pulled into the portal, kill the spiders quickly and return fast. Stay spaced out to avoid Bomb overlaps.
- Healer: Prepare for group-wide damage during Burst and after portal phases. Keep a cleanse ready for Bomb victims.
- Everyone: Don’t move unless necessary — your position determines the next portal target.
