Mephala’s Fang – Fungal Grotto II Boss

Overview
Mephala’s Fang is the first boss of Fungal Grotto II. This fight introduces the theme of poison and control — if the group can handle ground hazards here, they’ll manage the rest of the dungeon easily.
The boss uses poison attacks that linger on the ground, web traps that immobilize players, and waves of small spiders. The tank should keep the boss steady near the center while the group drops poisons around the outer edges to preserve space.
Mechanics
Poison Pools – The boss spits poison that creates lasting puddles. Standing in them causes heavy damage. Players should deliberately stay together. When the poison lands, all move together to a safe spot ready for another. If you do this, multiple stacks will stay together, rather than being spread all over the room. This allows for far easier control and less chaos.
Web Traps – Periodically, the boss casts webs that root players in place. Break free instantly, or you risk taking full poison damage while trapped. Tanks should avoid standing in webs as it can prevent blocking heavy attacks.
Spider Adds – Small spiders spawn throughout the fight, adding pressure to the group. They die quickly but can stack up fast if ignored. AoE them down before returning to boss damage.
Heavy Attack – A short wind-up attack aimed at the tank. It must be blocked or it will knock the tank down and cause massive damage.
Tips & Strategy
- Tank: Keep the boss centered and turned away from the group. Block heavies and reposition if poisons close off your area.
- DPS: Clear spider adds first, then focus on the boss. Drop poisons carefully near the edges.
- Healer: Keep an eye on players breaking out of webs and cleanse poison damage quickly.
- Everyone: Never stand in the center with active poison pools. Maintain a clean arena and stay aware of add spawns.
