Ciirenas the Shepherd – Fungal Grotto II Boss
Overview
Ciirenas the Shepherd is often misunderstood and skipped by groups who assume it’s a long fight, when in truth it’s fast and straightforward once mechanics are handled correctly. The boss herself is simple — the spiders cause most wipes due to mismanagement.
The tank must always maintain taunt on the boss (ranged or melee). The spiders, however, are immune to taunt, so the tank’s job is limited to control — using roots or crowd control if needed. The rest of the group should focus entirely on single-target damage and precision while avoiding excess AoE that could hit the spiders. If you mismanage the spiders, your group’s overall damage will plummet — literally.
Mechanics
Shadow Bolt – Ciirenas repeatedly fires dark magic projectiles at group members. These attacks happen frequently but can be interrupted, rendering her almost harmless. Keep her locked down, but avoid bashing her from the direction of the cliff or she may fall off and reset the fight.
Mark / Spiders – Ciirenas will occasionally mark one player. This mark sends her spiders after that person. The marked player should immediately move to the far side of the room to draw them away from the boss. Tanks can help pin the spiders there if needed with roots and stuns (taunts are immune), but everyone else should stay focused on Ciirenas.
Spider Rule – DO NOT kill the spiders! Each spider that dies buffs Ciirenas’ resistances, and if all spiders die, you will only deal 10% of your normal damage to the boss. That means your 30k heavy attack now hits for 3k, your 1k hits now do 100, etc. It is absolutely essential that spiders survive or you’ll be stuck in this fight forever. Keep them alive, focus on the boss, and end it cleanly.
Tips & Strategy
- Tank: Keep Ciirenas taunted and under control. Use roots or immobilizes to manage spiders but remember — they are immune to taunt.
- DPS: Focus only on Ciirenas. Avoid AoE that could hit spiders — killing them destroys your group’s DPS output.
- Healer: Watch for marked players moving across the room and keep them healed while they drag spiders away safely.
- Everyone: Maintain discipline. Keep spiders alive, interrupt Shadow Bolts, and burn the boss efficiently.
