Quest – Lighting the Shadows

Quest Giver: Defender Two-Blades (Inside Dungeon)

The Spider Cult has returned to Fungal Grotto II and unearthed the Obsidian Husk. Members of the Fighters Guild, led by Defender Two-Blades, are determined to stop the cult from raising an army of shadows that would destabilize the region.

Completing Lighting the Shadows

You must locate and assist three Fighters Guild survivors before retrieving the Obsidian Husk. Afterward, return to the dungeon entrance and confront Vila Theran to complete the quest. You’ll receive gold, a Skill Point, and the Shroud of the Resolute, part of the Spider Cultist Cowl set.

Trash Enemies

• Murkwater Warriors – Aggressive melee fighters that rush the group. Taunt them early and block heavy swings.
• Murkwater Shamans – Caster units using shadow and flame spells. Interrupt their channels when possible.
• Daedric Spiders – Skittering enemies that deal Magic Damage and can immobilize players in webs.
• Assassins – Stealth attackers with stun abilities similar to Gamyne Bandu’s adds. They appear in several areas and should be focused quickly.
• Dreugh & Mudcrabs – Found deeper in the cave; they swarm in numbers but have low health and are easily handled with AoE.

Boss Encounters

Fungal Grotto II features six unique boss fights that challenge awareness, coordination, and control. Each encounter brings a distinct tone to the dungeon’s story, from corrupted guild members to Mephala’s monstrous creations. Click a boss below to view the detailed mechanics.

Mephala’s Fang

A loyal cult guardian surrounded by spiders, defending the outer chambers of Mephala’s shrine.

Gamyne Bandu

A Spider Cult priestess who channels the power of shadow and deception to drain her enemies’ strength.

Ciirenas the Shepherd

A zealous cultist who commands endless spider swarms to overwhelm any who enter her lair.

Spawn of Mephala

A massive spider created by Mephala’s influence — an embodiment of the Daedric Prince’s web of lies.

Reggr Dark-Dawn

A corrupted warrior who now serves Mephala’s cult, standing as a brutal test of strength before the final ritual.

Vila Theran (Final Boss)

Once a proud Dunmer noble, now transformed into Mephala’s chosen vessel, completing the Spider Cult’s dark ascension.

Fungal Grotto II Conqueror

Complete Veteran Fungal Grotto II by defeating all six bosses including Vila Theran.

Fungal Grotto II Assassin

Defeat Mephala’s Fang, Gamyne Bandu, Ciirenas the Shepherd, Spawn of Mephala, Reggr Dark-Dawn, and Vila Theran within 20 minutes of starting Veteran Fungal Grotto II without any group member dying.

Fungal Grotto II Survivor

Complete Veteran Fungal Grotto II without any group member dying.

Fungal Grotto II Hard Mode

Defeat Vila Theran in Veteran Fungal Grotto II after invoking the Scroll of Glorious Battle.

Veteran Dreugh Slayer

Defeat 50 Dreugh in Veteran Fungal Grotto II.

Veteran Goblin Slayer

Defeat 450 Goblins in Veteran Fungal Grotto II.
