Dark Root – Elden Hollow II Boss

Dark Root Boss - Elden Hollow II

Overview

Dark Root is encountered in Elden Hollow II . This is a very simple fight and Dark Root can be killed fairly quickly if the group follows the mechanics, but stacking together is dangerous.

The group should establish a tight formation around the boss while still leaving space between individual players. The tank should maintain taunt and hold Dark Root still throughout the fight. Do not spin the boss or run around the room.

Mechanics

Radiated Beam – Dark Root will rain down a beam onto targets of her choice. Watch for a large white flash coming from above. This is the reason the group should NOT stack together.

If two players are standing together and are hit one after the other, players with low resistances can die. Radiated Beam has AOE splash damage, so try to remain at least 3-5 meters away from each other. A Nova on the ground can help negate some of the incoming damage.

Hoavors OP! – Two tiny adds spawn near Dark Root, one blue and one green. The colour of each Hoavor represents the bonus it provides when it dies. The tank can pin these next to the boss without spinning Dark Root around. They have VERY low damage and health and should be focused quickly.

Once they die, a stamina character should stand in the remaining green effect from the green Hoavor, while a magicka character should stand in the blue effect left by the blue Hoavor. These effects provide a MASSIVE boost to maximum resources and recovery, allowing those players to attack the boss heavily while the buffs are active. It is physically impossible to run out of resources while benefiting from these effects, so make use of them.

Tips & Strategy

  • Tank: Taunt Dark Root, hold her still and keep the Hoavors close.
  • DPS: Kill the Hoavors and use the appropriate resource effect.
  • Healer: Keep some distance between yourself and the other players.
  • Everyone: Stay 3-5 meters apart to avoid overlapping Radiated Beam damage.
