Bogdan the Nightflame – Elden Hollow II Boss

Overview

Bogdan the Nightflame is the final boss encountered in Elden Hollow II . This fight can be quite challenging. Bogdan is a big target in a small space and you CAN fall off the cliff, so watch your feet.

The tank needs to grab Bogdan and hold him still at all costs. Do NOT run around the room. DPS and healers should spread out a little rather than stacking directly on each other's feet, while remaining aware of the limited space around the arena.

Mechanics

Heavy Attack – This is simple and easy to spot. Bogdan will wind up a huge punch or slap which will knock the target over. This MUST be blocked. Even if you are a DPS and this attack targets you for some reason, you MUST block it.

Flames – Bogdan will raise his head into the air and launch a fireball, covering an area of the ground in flames. This is usually aimed at the DPS and healers. When it lands, simply step aside and continue what you are doing. Do not run around headlessly, just step out of the fire.

Shadows – This is the important mechanic introduced during the Twilight boss earlier in the dungeon. Shadows will spawn around Bogdan and, if you do not kill them, they will mind control members of the group.

A mind controlled player can be forced to run OFF the cliff or INTO the fire. If the Shadows are not killed quickly enough, more will spawn and the group can become overwhelmed. This also means more than one player can be controlled or feared at the same time. These are KEY targets and must be killed at all costs.

Healers – White versions of the additional enemies will also spawn. Unlike the Shadows, these do NOT fear or mind control players. Instead, they heal Bogdan.

You have two choices here. You can interrupt them every time they heal and continue focusing on the boss, OR simply kill them. If you do not kill them, you can eventually have more than one active in the room and, unless the group is good at interrupts, this can become a problem because Bogdan will heal far too much. Interrupt any healing casts as soon as you see them and then focus the Healers down.

JUMP – During the fight the room will become somewhat filled with fire. Do not panic. Bogdan will jump into the air. When he does this, make sure you are NOT standing in fire and that you are BLOCKING.

A successful block will allow you to survive the attack. At the same time, all Flames, all Shadows and all Healers will be removed. The fight is essentially reset, giving the group space again before the mechanics begin to build up once more.

Tips & Strategy

• Tank: Hold Bogdan still and block his Heavy Attack.
• DPS: Prioritise Shadows and Healers when they spawn.
• Healer: Avoid Flames and interrupt enemy Healers.
• Everyone: During JUMP, get out of the fire and BLOCK.
