Grobull the Transmuted – Darkshade Caverns II Boss

Grobull the Transmuted Boss - Darkshade Caverns II

Overview

Grobull the Transmuted is encountered in Darkshade Caverns II . This fight is all about controlling the large number of Netch adds while reacting correctly to Grobull's shield phases.

The boss spends much of the fight protected by a damage shield, so attacking Grobull constantly will achieve very little. The group must deal with the adds and use the correct opportunities to damage the boss.

Mechanics

Netch Adds – Large numbers of Netches will spawn throughout the fight. The smaller Netches should be gathered and killed together with AOE damage rather than allowing them to spread around the room.

Shock Explosion – When the smaller Netches die, they explode with shock damage. This explosion is extremely important because it is used to remove Grobull's protective shield. Kill the Netches close enough to the boss for their explosions to hit him.

Damage Shield – Grobull is protected by a strong shield for much of the fight. Do not waste time trying to burn through it directly. Use the explosions from the smaller Netches to remove the shield and create an opportunity to damage the boss.

Once the shield is removed, focus damage on Grobull immediately. The window does not last forever, so take advantage of it before the shield returns and the group must repeat the process.

Large Netches – Larger Netches also appear during the fight and should be controlled while the group deals with the smaller adds. Do not allow the number of enemies in the room to become overwhelming while concentrating on Grobull.

Tips & Strategy

  • Tank: Control the adds and help keep the smaller Netches close enough to Grobull for their explosions to hit him.
  • DPS: Kill the smaller Netches near Grobull, then immediately focus the boss when his shield is removed.
  • Healer: Keep the group supported through the add phases and the shock damage from dying Netches.
  • Everyone: Do not waste damage on Grobull while his shield is active. Use the Netch explosions to remove it before focusing the boss.
