Nerien'eth – Crypt of Hearts II Boss

Overview
Nerien'eth is the final boss encountered in Crypt of Hearts II . The fight is not as difficult as it once was, but it still requires coordination and awareness. Several mechanics are random, so everyone must stay alert throughout the fight.
The tank should maintain taunt at all times while the group stays relatively close to the boss without stacking directly on top of each other. Several attacks randomly target players, so spreading slightly prevents one mechanic from becoming a problem for the entire group.
Mechanics
Lich Crystals – Nerien'eth will raise his hand into the air and spawn Lich Crystals around the room. A chain will emerge from the ground before a large burst erupts from the area. These are extremely easy to avoid, so simply move out of the AOE. There can be many of them around the room, but as long as you watch the ground they should not cause a problem.
Flying Skull – Occasionally Nerien'eth will target a random player and briefly channel before firing a projectile flying skull at them. The player has plenty of time to react, but must recognise that THEY are the target.
When Nerien'eth is channeling this attack, he will look directly at the targeted player. Prepare for it and dodge roll when the skull reaches you. Failing to dodge can result in MASSIVE damage and a knockdown. Lower CP players or glass cannons can potentially be killed outright, so do not miss the dodge roll. Spread out slightly so everyone can clearly see who is being targeted.
Teleport Blast – Nerien'eth will teleport from time to time and land on a random player. When he disappears, get away from him immediately. Wherever he lands, he creates a massive spreading AOE on the ground from his feet.
The AOE is large enough that a single dodge roll may not take you far enough to escape it if you react too slowly. Unless you are extremely tanky or the tank, being caught in the explosion can kill you. As soon as Nerien'eth teleports, move away quickly.
Ghosts – Three ghostly figures are positioned around the room. When Nerien'eth teleports to them, he releases two ghosts. Every time this happens, the ghosts need to be killed before the next ones arrive or the group can quickly become overwhelmed.
If you are attempting Hard Mode, this changes completely. You MUST keep the ghosts alive rather than killing them. The tank should take the ghosts away while the group avoids damaging them.
To complete Hard Mode, there must be 4 ghosts alive when Nerien'eth reaches 35% health. Hold back on boss damage until all four ghosts are present if the group is dealing damage too quickly. Be careful not to kill them too early.
Taking The Sword – At 35% health, Nerien'eth reaches for the sword in the centre of the room. This is the moment when the ghosts can finally be killed if you are completing Hard Mode, and it is also when the group needs to focus on the boss.
The tank should hold Nerien'eth under the sword while the group maintains a tight circle close to the boss. Do NOT run around the room.
When Nerien'eth grabs the sword, the entire group will be stunned. He will then choose a random player, hold them in mid-air and begin draining them.
The targeted player must use the synergy to resist the drain. At the same time, the rest of the group must deal as much damage as possible to Nerien'eth to remove his damage shield and release the player safely.
Once the player has been released, the boss can be controlled with taunt again. Nerien'eth will continue fighting with the sword, dealing HIGH melee damage and randomly targeting players with a charge attack. Stay relatively close together and block if he aims the charge at you.
If Nerien'eth remains alive long enough, he will repeat the drain phase while protected by another damage shield. When this happens, repeat the same process. Do not panic and good luck!
Tips & Strategy
- Tank: Maintain control of Nerien'eth and, during Hard Mode, keep the ghosts safely away from group damage until the 35% requirement has been met.
- DPS: Watch Nerien'eth carefully for the Flying Skull and save strong damage for breaking his shield quickly when a player is being drained.
- Healer: Keep sight of the whole group during the random targeting mechanics, particularly when players need to spread slightly around the boss.
- Everyone: For Hard Mode, make sure 4 ghosts are alive when Nerien'eth reaches 35% health. Once the sword phase begins, stay organised and react immediately if you are chosen for the drain.
