Overview

The Xivilai Fulminator and Xivilai Boltaic are twin lightning bosses found before the final battle in City of Ash II. Each resides on a separate path — one melee-focused, one ranged — but both share almost identical mechanics. Expect frequent interrupts, high Shock Damage, and several Storm Atronach adds.

These fights can be tackled in any order, and the mechanics are simple once you learn their attack rhythm. Interrupts and add control are the key to keeping your group alive.

Mechanics

Heavy Attack – Both bosses perform heavy melee strikes that can be blocked. The tank must maintain taunt and ensure the bosses are always faced away from the group. If a DPS or healer takes aggro, they must block immediately or risk a one-shot.

Charged Attack – The Xivilai will cast a frontal lightning charge. It’s easily avoided or interrupted — watch for the animation and act quickly.

Lightning Burst – The bosses crouch and channel before releasing a burst of Shock Damage. Interrupting this stops it entirely; otherwise, move out of range to avoid damage.

Artonachs – Throughout the encounter, Storm Atronachs spawn and deal AoE lightning damage. These can be interrupted, but if your group’s DPS is low, prioritize killing them to prevent being overwhelmed.

Tips & Strategy

  • Tank: Keep both bosses faced away from the group. Interrupt lightning channels and control aggro on the Atronachs as needed.
  • DPS: Focus one boss down first. Use ranged interrupts to control casts safely.
  • Healer: Expect spikes from Lightning Bursts and Atronach AoEs — keep group heals prepped.
  • Everyone: Don’t panic when adds spawn. Manage interrupts efficiently and avoid overstacking.
