Rothariel Flameheart – City of Ash I Boss

Rothariel Flameheart Boss - City of Ash I

Overview

Rothariel Flameheart is a quick, aggressive encounter with mechanics that can spiral out of control if handled poorly — especially during her clone phase. The tank should keep her positioned in the center while DPS focus fire carefully and prepare for each mechanic.

The fight area is small, and if anyone runs down the stairs, the encounter will reset. Stay put, control your movement, and let your tank handle positioning while you focus on avoiding fire and dealing damage.

Mechanics

Heavy Attack – Rothariel performs a powerful heavy attack that knocks back and deals huge Physical Damage. Tanks should always block this, as it will one-shot most DPS or healers if it connects. It’s usually followed by a light attack, so stay braced until she resets her stance.

Berserker Frenzy – She spins rapidly with her blade, hitting anyone caught nearby for sustained Physical Damage. The animation is very clear — step out of range immediately to avoid unnecessary damage.

Burning Field – Rothariel summons pools of Flame Damage around the area. These are highly visible and easy to avoid but deal steady damage if you linger. Step out as soon as they appear, then reposition safely once they fade.

Summon Clones – After the Burning Field phase, she spawns three identical clones. The clones take massively increased damage compared to the real boss — similar to the Hel Ra Citadel reflections. Each clone deals the same damage as Rothariel but dies much faster. If you’re using weapons or skills that cause splash damage (like Lightning Staves or 2H lights), aim carefully — splash hits on clones amplify your total damage output.

Tanks should gather Rothariel and all her clones together for easier AoE control. This phase rarely gets chaotic, but it can if positioning breaks — stay calm, manage spacing, and avoid running around the room.

Tips & Strategy

  • Tank: Keep Rothariel centered and gather her clones quickly when they spawn.
  • DPS: Use AoE damage and splash effects wisely to burn down clones faster.
  • Healer: Stay alert during the clone phase — sudden cleave or fire overlap can be dangerous.
  • Everyone: Don’t chase her down the stairs — if you do, she’ll reset the fight!
