Razor Master Erthas – City of Ash I Final Boss

Razor Master Erthas Boss - City of Ash I

Overview

Razor Master Erthas is the fiery final boss of City of Ash I. This encounter is dynamic and fun — a mix of movement, add control, and clever use of mechanics. He’s a ranged caster who constantly floods the arena with fire and summons waves of Atronach adds. Your tank will need both melee and ranged taunts to manage the chaos effectively.

Keep the boss as stationary as possible, deal with adds quickly, and watch your footing. The fight is about control, not speed — patience wins here.

Mechanics

Fire Burst – Erthas launches a fiery projectile that lands and explodes into a four-way cross pattern of Flame Damage across the floor. It’s highly visible but extremely painful if you stand in it. Move quickly and avoid the spreading fire trails to stay alive.

Minions – When he shouts “Rise, minion!” he summons Flame Atronachs. These behave exactly like the ones encountered earlier in the dungeon — they attack from range and explode on death. Tanks should taunt them as soon as possible to keep them away from the group, while DPS burn them down fast. Leaving too many alive will overwhelm your healer in the later phases.

Teleport – Throughout the fight, Erthas randomly teleports to different parts of the arena. When he moves, chase him down quickly but don’t blow ultimates mid-teleport — wait until he reappears. Dropping big AoEs right after he settles will maximize uptime and avoid wasted damage if he ports mid-cast.

Flame Shot – Erthas periodically targets a random player and fires a flaming projectile. If it hits, it applies a devastating Flame Damage DoT that lasts a long time. The DoT can be blocked or dodged, but if it lands, you can cleanse it by jumping into water — you’ll hear a fizzing sound when the fire is extinguished. Keep your spacing to avoid splash overlap.

Enrage (Final Phase) – At 25% health, Erthas stops summoning one Atronach at a time and instead spawns three at once! This is your make-or-break phase — the arena becomes chaotic fast. Tanks should taunt and stack everything together, and the group can either kill the adds first or go full burn on Erthas. Choose your strategy wisely and communicate — both work, depending on your group’s DPS and survivability.

Hard Mode

Hard Mode for this encounter is activated by reading the Scroll of Glorious Battle found on the left side of the arena, before Razor Master Erthas emerges from the portal. When activated, all mechanics remain the same, but Erthas gains significantly more health and deals far higher damage. The fight becomes more punishing — especially during the add waves and final phase — but no new abilities are introduced.

Tips & Strategy

  • Tank: Keep Erthas positioned near the center and ready a ranged taunt for Atronachs.
  • DPS: Save ultimates for when he teleports and settles — timing is everything.
  • Healer: Prepare for burst healing during Flame Shot and Atronach explosions.
  • Everyone: Manage fire and movement carefully. Standing still is dangerous, but panic is worse!
