Infernal Guardian – City of Ash I Boss
Overview
The Infernal Guardian is the fiery opener of City of Ash I . He’s simple in theory but still capable of turning a careless group into barbecue. Control the positioning, keep the boss steady, and — you guessed it — stay out of the fire.
Tanks should hold him centrally and face him away from the group. Almost all of his abilities are Flame Damage or cleaves, so good placement makes everyone’s life easier.
Mechanics
Double Slam – A quick two-hit melee combo targeting the tank. Both swings can be blocked; easy to manage, painful if ignored.
Thorny Backhand – A backward strike that applies a bleed. This should only ever hit the tank — if you’re behind him, you’re in the wrong place.
Fiery Explosion – The Guardian trembles and launches fireballs everywhere. DPS and healers should block or move to avoid lethal hits. During this phase, the boss radiates AoE Flame Damage — step back until he calms down.
Tunneling Roots – Roots spread across the floor and immobilize players who fail to dodge. Move early or roll out fast. Taking the hit means Physical Damage and a likely trip to the floor.
Tips & Strategy
- Tank: Keep the boss still, centered, and facing away from the group.
- DPS: Watch the ground and the boss animations — mobility is survival here.
- Healer: Prep HoTs before Fiery Explosion and react quickly to root damage.
- Everyone: Standing in fire isn’t a strategy. Don’t do it.
