Dark Ember – City of Ash I Boss

Overview
The Dark Ember is essentially a more powerful version of a Flame Atronach. She brings the same fiery attacks seen throughout City of Ash I, but with much higher damage and the addition of several adds when the gate opens. Tanks should immediately pull those adds together, position them with Dark Ember, and keep her facing away from the group.
Her standard fireball attacks can be blocked and generally shouldn’t pose much of a threat if managed correctly. The danger lies in her AoE effects — particularly Lava Geyser and the explosive aftermath of her death.
Mechanics
Lava Geyser – This is her most dangerous attack. Small spreading AoEs appear on the ground and erupt moments later like bursts of molten lava. Tanks can survive these by blocking, but everyone else must step out quickly. The eruption deals massive Flame Damage and can one-shot lower-resist players. Don’t panic — just step out, wait for the blast, and move back in once it’s safe.
Combustion – Don’t rush in for loot when she dies! Upon defeat, Dark Ember emits a brief explosion of Flame Damage around her corpse. It has a short delay before detonating and can instantly kill DPS or healers standing too close. Wait for her to hit the ground, count a few seconds, and then approach safely.
Tips & Strategy
- Tank: Grab all adds immediately and hold them together with Dark Ember. Face her away from the group.
- DPS: Stay mobile. Keep moving between AoEs and avoid standing in any molten ground effects.
- Healer: Anticipate Lava Geyser with preemptive healing. Warn players to wait before looting after the kill.
- Everyone: Be patient at the end — that explosion is no joke. Let her pop, then loot safely.
