Sellistrix the Lamia Queen – Arx Corinium Final Boss

Overview
Sellistrix the Lamia Queen is the final boss in Arx Corinium. This fight can look chaotic at first but is easily controlled with proper positioning and discipline. The tank must keep her aggro at all times while the group stays close but spread enough to track who is targeted. Following mechanics precisely makes this encounter simple and safe.
Mechanics
Channeled Strikes – Sellistrix raises her hands and drops multiple AoE blasts around the arena. These deal heavy damage over time but are entirely predictable. The tank should hold her on the island — not in the water — while everyone waits for the waves to finish. Once the blasts stop, regroup and continue fighting. Keeping her on the island prevents water-based hazards.
Heavy Attack – A simple but dangerous hit that must be blocked. Failing to block can result in a knockdown followed by lethal damage. Don’t move or panic — just block and hold position. If she’s loose and turns on a DPS or healer, blocking can still save them.
Charge – Occasionally she will charge a random player. If you are too far from the boss, this becomes much more likely. Stay close and avoid unnecessary movement; don’t run around the room as this makes her targeting unpredictable.
Scream – Her signature ability. Sellistrix screams in the direction of the tank, dealing heavy damage and causing knockback. If taunt drops while she begins the scream, she will still finish it toward the last person she was facing — often a DPS or healer. This is extremely dangerous and cannot be interrupted. Tanks must maintain taunt at all times. If she turns toward you, block immediately or roll-dodge out of line. Failing to react will knock players across the room and usually cause a wipe.
Damage Shield – For most of the fight, Sellistrix applies a damage shield to herself. While active, she cannot be critically hit. This makes the fight slower but safer if managed correctly. Avoid risky positioning or fancy tactics if you’re new — this is the intended, stable method.
Charged Water – If Sellistrix enters the water, she electrifies it, dealing massive damage every tick to anyone standing in it. Staying in the water during this phase will kill most players instantly. The tank must hold her still on the island at all times to prevent this mechanic from triggering. The water should only be used safely when her Channeled Strikes end, allowing the group to reposition.
Experienced Method – A faster, high-risk strategy used by veteran groups. In this version, the tank positions Sellistrix in the water while the group remains on the island. This removes her damage shield entirely, increasing overall damage output (“crits are in”). However, it also makes her far more punishing to control and requires precise coordination. One mistake will cause mass electrocution or erratic screams, so this should not be attempted by newer groups.
Hard Mode
The Hard Mode for Sellistrix the Lamia Queen is activated by reading the Scroll of Glorious Battle found on the ground before the encounter. When active, the boss’s health and damage output both increase significantly, and her lightning-based mechanics — particularly Scream and Channeled Strikes — occur more frequently. Players must stay especially close together, as any missed block or dropped taunt will wipe the group quickly. The same core tactics apply: Maintain taunt, and stay calm under pressure.
Tips & Strategy
- Tank: Keep Sellistrix taunted at all times. Hold her still on the island and block her heavy attacks.
- DPS: Stay close but spread slightly. Avoid running wide circles and always be ready to block during Scream.
- Healer: Keep strong heals and shields active during Scream and when lightning frequency increases under 50% HP.
- Everyone: Never enter the water during standard mechanics. Stick to the island and react quickly to AoEs.
