Ganakton the Tempest – Arx Corinium Boss

Ganakton the Tempest Boss - Arx Corinium

Overview

Ganakton the Tempest is the second boss in Arx Corinium. The fight is straightforward but punishes poor positioning. The tank must hold the boss steady while the group maintains formation. Running in circles or stacking up will make this encounter far harder than it should be.

Mechanics

Lightning Breath – A frontal channeled attack that targets whoever has aggro. The tank must maintain taunt or this will hit a DPS or healer. It lasts around four seconds, dealing steady damage each second. Step to the side or block to reduce it. The boss remains still while channeling and will not turn, so careful positioning is key.

Shock Pulse – Periodically, Ganakton releases a wave of energy that damages and briefly stuns the entire group. This cannot be avoided but is manageable if players stay healthy. Keep healing-over-time active and avoid being low on Health before it happens.

Pin – In lower overall DPS groups, a rarely seen mechanic can be seen. Ganakton may summon a lightning shard that pins a player to the ground. While pinned, they cannot move and will take continuous damage. Another player must run over and use the synergy prompt to free them. This mechanic is the same as the one used by Ozara in Sanctum Ophidia. It rarely appears in experienced groups due to faster kill times, but it does exist.

Keep formation steady. The tank anchors Ganakton in place while the group stays behind in a clean line. Calm movement and awareness make this fight one of the easiest in the dungeon.

Tips & Strategy

  • Tank: Face Ganakton away from the group and block Lightning Breath. Reapply taunt if needed.
  • DPS: Spread slightly and maintain pressure. Watch for pinned players and use the synergy immediately.
  • Healer: Keep HoTs active before Shock Pulse and heal through the stun. Stay ready to support pinned players.
  • Everyone: Stay still, react to the breath, and free allies fast if the Pin mechanic occurs.
