Ancient Lurcher – Arx Corinium Boss

Ancient Lurcher Boss - Arx Corinium

Overview

The Ancient Lurcher is the fifth boss in Arx Corinium. He functions similarly to standard lurchers found earlier in the dungeon but with a few extra mechanics. The tank should hold this boss still, facing away from the group, while pulling in surrounding Lamia adds for AoE damage. The group should stay spaced behind or to the side, watching for interrupts and ground effects.

Mechanics

Slam – A heavy attack with a knockback effect. This must be blocked at all times, as it deals high damage and can easily down non-tanks. If you are the target, block immediately and reposition after the impact if necessary.

Shake – Periodically, the boss will shake and create ground AoEs throughout the area. These can be interrupted. Keep an eye on the ground and break his cast quickly to avoid unnecessary damage. Watch your feet and respond fast when this happens.

Beam – Occasionally, the Lurcher channels a green beam on a random player, draining their health over time. This attack deals heavy damage and must be mitigated by blocking, shielding, or focused healing. Interrupts do not stop the beam, so healers and tanks must react immediately.

Enrage – Once below 50% health, the boss gains a lightning charge that greatly increases his AoE damage. His ground effects become much stronger, so players should avoid standing near him. Healers must keep the group stabilized during this phase. If everyone maintains awareness, this can be managed easily.

The Ancient Lurcher’s damage spikes come from missed interrupts and ignored AoEs. Stay calm, hold formation, and handle mechanics cleanly. A good tank positioning the boss away from the group makes this fight trivial.

Tips & Strategy

  • Tank: Keep the boss still, face him away, and block all heavy attacks. Pull in adds for AoE kills.
  • DPS: Focus on interrupting Shake and burning down adds quickly.
  • Healer: Watch for the Beam target and provide strong heals or shields during Enrage.
  • Everyone: Avoid standing near the boss under 50% HP and spread to minimize AoE overlap.
