Big Booms – ESO Templar DPS Build (Infinite Archive)
Watch the full breakdown of the Big Booms – Templar DPS Build designed for the Infinite Archive, focused on massive AoE explosions: ▶ View the Big Booms Video Guide
Build Overview
This PvE Templar build is technically a remodelled version of the Off Balance Templar build, altered and designed for the sole purpose of playing the Infinite Archive. In the video, I explain all of the intricate details regarding design, application, the hows, the whats, and the whys — but fundamentally, this build is designed to take advantage of things that only happen inside IA.
There are many variables presented to you here that do not appear anywhere else in the game, allowing you to build completely content specific.
💥 The Core Idea
Above all else, this build is designed around aggressive survival and taking full advantage of explosive bonuses and sets. The better you stack trash, the bigger the booms.
One set triggers an explosion based on damage-over-time stacks. That set can apply status effects, which can also explode (Disease status). That explosion can then kill a target, triggering another set that explodes across multiple enemies and applies Bleed status.
That explosion can then trigger a Champion Point explosion that ignores resistances and applies even more status effects. This results in a literal chain reaction of death.
🔁 How It All Feeds Itself
- You already heal from your damage, and with the Ring of the Pale Order you heal even more — effectively double-dipping into healing from both damage and healing skills.
- Applying ground-based AoE DoTs to groups of enemies is enough to start the explosions, and once they begin, they do not stop. Azureblight is king.
- Sustain is handled through heavy attacks, which also help build stacks for Azureblight, reinforcing the explosion loop.
- Your back bar weapon provides strong survival through projectile damage shields, heavy-attack shielding, block mitigation, reduced block cost, and Minor Breach via status effects.
- Macabre causes dead enemies to explode, helping kill the living faster and further feeding the chain reaction.
- Rather than leaning purely on weapon skills, this build makes heavy use of Templar class abilities — giving you an actual reason to be a Templar instead of simply slotting Force Pulse and calling it a day.
Take it out for a spin and see how ridiculous it can get. Let me know in the video comments if you enjoy it, and consider joining the Patreon Discord for early access to future builds.

Class Mastery
Update 50 has given us a new system called Class Mastery in The Elder Scrolls Online. If you decide to remain 100% pure class, you gain access to five unique Class Mastery passives, but can only choose two. These are the two selected for this build.

How To Play The Build
In the Infinite Archive, a strict rotation isn’t realistic due to constant target switching. Instead, this build focuses on buff uptime, debuff management, and simple priority-based damage.
Core Buffs & Debuffs
These must be maintained at all times:
- Channeled Focus – Keep active for sustain and resistances.
- Channeled Acceleration – Maintain for speed and critical bonuses.
- Purifying Light – Always active on a primary target.
Damage Priority
Once buffs are active, your gameplay is extremely straightforward:
- Keep Blazing Spear and Wall of Elements under enemies.
- Spam Puncturing Sweeps as your main damage skill.
- When enemies drop below 33% health, switch to Radiant Glory.
That’s it. Maintain your buffs, place your ground effects, and let the execute do the heavy lifting.
