The Ninja – ESO Criminal Nightblade Build
Ever wanted to actually benefit from a life of crime in The Elder Scrolls Online ? Not just annoy guards and rack up a bounty, but fully lean into the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild playstyles that existed long before the MMO side of the series.
The Ninja is built for exactly that. This is not a combat build. It exists for one purpose only, to steal, assassinate, and move through the world without ever being caught.
Anyone can get a bounty. That part is easy. The problem is making crime profitable. If guards are chasing you and fines are piling up, you are just breaking the law, not benefiting from it.
The Ninja solves that. You can steal and kill freely, avoid detection entirely, and walk away with the rewards while the guards never even get close.
How the Build Works
This build stacks detection radius reduction, stealth bonuses, and movement speed to make you effectively invisible during criminal activity. Guards struggle to spot you even at close range, and escape tools are always available if something goes wrong.
Thievery is where the build really shines. Pickpocketing is safer, murdering is easier than ever, and getting out of trouble is DEFAULT not a challenge!
Pickpocket a target and walk away. Or pickpocket them, then finish the job and take whatever is left. Whatever you decide it's EASY! And if you DO decide you have to kill the mark, you instantly go invisible TWICE for extra get away power!
Simplicity by Design
The Ninja does not rely on rotations, DPS setups, or traditional combat awareness. It is designed to be simple. One bar is all you really need, and most targets never get the chance to fight back. This is not a combat build essentially, it's not for dungeons, trials, or arenas. It's design to steal, kill, and NOT get caught!
Positioning and timing matter more than damage. Stand behind the target, use the correct interaction, and the encounter is over instantly for regular NPCS thanks to the Dark Brotherhood's Blade Of Woe.
- Extremely low detection radius, even near guards
- Near-infinite sneak with full stamina uptime
- Reliable invisibility for movement and escapes
- High mitigation and movement speed if spotted
- Increased gold and loot quality from thievery
- One-shot potential on humanoid overland targets
- Heists become significantly easier to complete
This is not about fighting the game. It is about selecting the right targets, and having the tools to be a slipery shadow in the night. Who said a life of crime doesn't pay!?
We all know It, but we don't usually accept It, but with this build, It's true "Winning is Winning"
Fashion First – The Ninja ESO Criminal Nightblade
I cannot show you what I’m wearing.
SHHH… I’m invisible. I’m a NINJA.
If you can see your armor, you’re doing it wrong.
↑ Back to TopThe Ninja – One Bar Pure Class Nightblade Skills
This is a pure class Nightblade setup designed to function entirely on one bar. A back bar is not required. On PC you can unbind bar swap entirely; on console the second bar exists by default, but everything you need lives right here.
Front Bar – Dual Wield

Class Mastery
Update 50 has given us a new system called Class Mastery in The Elder Scrolls Online. If you decide to remain 100% pure class, you gain access to five unique Class Mastery passives, but can only choose two. These are the two selected for this build.

🏆 Champion Points – NINJA Stealth & Thievery Setup
Champion Points for the NINJA build are not about damage or combat performance. Instead, they focus entirely on stealth efficiency, survivability, escape tools, and quality-of-life. This setup ensures you remain unseen, slippery, and extremely difficult to pin down — even when mistakes happen.
Once you reach level 50, Champion Points are split across three constellations: Warfare (Blue), Craft (Green), and Fitness (Red). For Ninja, these choices prioritise damage reduction while escaping, stealth bonuses, reduced detection, and emergency survivability.

- Unassailable
- Duelist’s Rebuff
- Enduring Resolve
- Ironclad

- Shadowstrike
- Cutpurse’s Art
- Fade Away
- Steed’s Blessing

- Boundless Vitality
- Rejuvenation
- Fortified
- Slippery
These Champion Points reinforce Ninja’s identity: remain unseen, survive mistakes, escape instantly, and reset encounters without ever being punished. This setup allows aggressive pickpocketing, Blade of Woe usage, and clean getaways even under pressure.
↑ Back to TopHow To Play Ninja
Ninja is not a combat build. There is no rotation, no DPS loop, and no pressure gameplay. This build exists for one purpose only: stealth, murder, and disappearing.
The Entire “Rotation”
- Activate a stealth or invisibility skill.
- Sneak up behind the target.
- Pickpocket → walk away or Blade of Woe → walk away.
That’s it. That’s the build. Erm...walk up behind something crouching...hit the Blade of Woe synergy...Loot corpse?!
“But What If I Get Seen?”
If you Blade of Woe a target:
- You instantly go invisible.
- Moments later, you briefly become visible…
- Then you instantly go invisible again — for free.
Killing someone literally makes you vanish. Twice.
“What If I Run Out of Magicka?”
You’re a Stage 4 Vampire.
Sprint for a few seconds and you:
Run at full speed → go invisible.
No magicka required. No panic button needed.
Bottom Line
Your entire toolkit is about hiding.
Even when you do things wrong — kill someone, get spotted, sprint away — the build still turns you invisible.
You won’t get caught.
↑ Back to TopAttributes, Race, and Mundus Stone
This setup is tuned specifically for stealth, invisibility uptime, and avoiding detection at all times.
✔️ We are using the Atronach Mundus Stone to provide massive Magicka recovery, enabling effectively infinite timed invisibility.
✔️ All 64 Attribute Points are placed into Stamina.
✔️ The chosen race is Khajiit. Their reduced detection radius makes a huge difference alongside recovery bonuses. Other races will work, but you will be noticeably easier to spot.
Potions, Poisons & Food
Potions are critical for the Ninja build. You should be running Tri-Pots at all times to maintain stamina, magicka for invisibility, and health for safety. Do NOT let your potion buff drop — sustain is what allows this build to remain invisible indefinitely.
Tri-Pots
Use Tri-Pots exclusively:
- Columbine
- Mountain Flower
- Bugloss
- Lorkhan’s Tears (Solvent)
These restore Health, Magicka, and Stamina while granting Major Endurance and Major Intellect, allowing you to sprint, cloak, and escape without ever running dry.
Food
Food is very simple. Use the highest-level flat food you can access that provides only Max Health and Max Stamina.
All of the following provide identical stats — choose whichever is easiest for you to obtain:
