Easy Tank – Beginner Dragonknight Tank Build
Easy Tank is designed for players who want to be a true, traditional tank in The Elder Scrolls Online . This is not a squishy support-style setup — it is a straight-up protector built to take hits on purpose and keep the group alive.
Many modern “tank” builds sacrifice health to boost stamina or group damage, relying heavily on healers playing hybrid support roles to compensate. That approach works, but it is not for everyone. Easy Tank is built for players who want to be chunky, reliable, and forgiving, especially while learning.
Health-Scaling by Design
Almost all core Dragonknight tanking tools scale from maximum Health. Damage shields, self-heals, and group protection all become stronger the more health you have. This build leans fully into that design.
Instead of juggling awkward stat compromises, Easy Tank stacks a large health pool to maximize shield and heal effectiveness, while maintaining enough stamina to block comfortably and enough magicka recovery to repeatedly cast group-protecting skills.
Simple Resource Management
Stamina exists here to block and taunt, not to scale damage. A solid stamina pool allows sustained blocking, and heavy attacks between mechanics easily recover what you need.
Magicka does not need to be a large pool. The strength of Dragonknight tank skills does not scale with magicka. Instead, this build prioritizes magicka recovery, allowing frequent recasts of shields and heals without relying on counterproductive sustain tricks.
This is why abilities like Balance are intentionally avoided — reducing the effectiveness of health-based shields and heals defeats the entire purpose of stacking health in the first place.
Dragonknight Synergy
Dragonknight passives strongly favor high health tanks. Abilities like Green Dragon Blood heal based on missing health, meaning larger health pools produce stronger, more efficient heals. This reduces panic casting and improves long-term survivability.
Igneous Shield and Bone Shield scale from maximum health, stacking together to massively reduce incoming damage for both you and your group. Used correctly, these skills allow you to absorb punishment that would overwhelm lighter setups.
Forgiving Gear and Accessibility
Easy Tank uses forgiving, accessible gear that emphasizes survivability and recovery from mistakes. High health bonuses, crowd forgiveness, and permanent resistance buffs allow you to learn mechanics without constant deaths.
No trial gear is required. Most of the setup is buyable or craftable, and even advanced progression content can be tackled once you understand positioning and timing.
This build has been stress-tested in dungeons and trials alike and excels at doing exactly what a tank should do — hold enemies still, absorb damage, and protect the group.
Final Notes
If stamina runs low, heavy attack. Block big hits, attack during safe windows, and trust your health pool. Keep shields active, heal inside those shield windows, and remember: you are meant to be getting hit.
This is a tank for all players — especially beginners — and works in all group content.

Easy Tank – How to Play
Easy Tank does not use a rotation in the traditional sense. This build is about control, uptime, and survival, not repeating a fixed sequence of skills.
Your goal is simple: stay alive, control enemies, and make the fight easier for your group. Everything you do should support one of those three outcomes.
Core Priorities
- Keep your defensive buffs active at all times. These are what allow you to stand in damage without collapsing.
- Maintain taunt uptime on priority targets. Taunting is non-negotiable and should never drop.
- Apply crowd control whenever enemies clump, especially on dangerous or mobile targets.
Enemy Control
Positioning and control are where this build shines. Pull enemies together, lock them down, and prevent them from threatening your group.
- Chain or pull enemies into tight groups.
- Taunts last 15 seconds, do NOT let them run out, try to overlap at LEAST every 12 seconds per target.
- Apply immobilizes and roots to stop movement.
- Keep enemies facing away from your group whenever possible.
Easy Tank is about consistency, not speed. Stay alive, keep control, and let the fight unfold safely around you.
