Ballista – ESO Nightblade PvP Ranged Bomber Build
Ballista is a Nightblade PvP ranged bomber build built for Cyrodiil. It delivers true bombing pressure without diving into enemy stacks, instead applying detonations, stuns, and immobilizes from extreme range.
Rather than spamming a single ranged skill and hoping for crits, Ballista applies bomb effects directly to targets, pins them in place, and forces damage onto surrounding players — often killing enemies who never even reach the fight.
How the Build Works
Ballista takes full advantage of Nightblade range bonuses and passives. From keeps, walls, or elevated terrain, key abilities reach absurd distances:
- Primary ranged pressure reaching up to 48 meters
- Lethal Arrow reaching approximately 55 meters
- Target marking from as far as 70 meters
Targets are immobilized and stunned from range, locking them in place while bomb effects tick. Enemies who run often die on their own. Enemies who stay close turn into moving explosives.
What Makes Ballista Different

Ballista is not a brawler, not a duelist, and absolutely not a solo-yolo build. It is a long-range glass cannon designed to delete targets before they ever get close enough to fight back. If you run into a brawl, you will die. If you stay at range and play it properly, you will erase people without being touched.
Your strength comes from range stacking. Bow passives, Cyrodiil keep bonuses, and Propelling Shield combine to push your effective range far beyond what most players expect. Your main pressure skills operate comfortably around the 48m mark, with Lethal Arrow reaching even further. Stay back. Stay hidden. Let the build do the work.
Positioning & Target Choice
Ballista lives and dies by positioning. You should be:
- Far behind the main fight, preferably elevated or protected by terrain
- Inside Propelling Shield when pressuring from keep walls
- Invisible or disengaged whenever attention turns your way
Target priority matters. High-health, high-resistance players make excellent bombs because they amplify the damage around them. If those aren’t available, pick off glass cannons and back-line players. What you never do is dive into the fight yourself.
Opening Sequence & Pressure Setup
A clean Ballista opener looks like this:
- Reaper’s Mark the target while hidden or protected
- Apply Inevitable Detonation from maximum range
- Follow with Crippling Grasp to immobilize
Most players instinctively bash to break free, only to realise a moment later that they are dealing with an immobilization, not a stun. That delay is everything. During that confusion window, your monster set fires, forcing a stun and a break free anyway.
Damage Window & Execution
While the target is locked down and reacting:
- Use Venom Arrow to interrupt, apply pressure, and force Off Balance where applicable
- Fire 2–3 Lethal Arrows immediately — these should already be in the air while the target is still reacting
- If anything survives, finish with Impale
Anyone standing near the target during this sequence takes collateral damage. When the target dies, everything around them explodes. That is the entire point of the build.
Group Play & Ultimate Usage
Ballista is designed for coordinated play. One Ballista is pressure. Three to five Ballistas calling targets and firing together is devastation. Armies do not survive sustained, synchronized long-range bombardment.
Don’t be shy with ultimates. Dropping a Shooting Star from extreme range only adds to the chaos and accelerates wipes. You are not meant to save ultimates — you are meant to overwhelm.
The rule is simple:
Stay back. Stay hidden. Focus fire. Never get hit.
If you follow that, Ballista does exactly what it was built to do.
Mundus Stone, Attribute Points and Race
Below is the stat setup for the BALLISTA Nightblade build, focusing on maximum ranged damage, penetration, and stamina efficiency.
✔️ We are using the Lover Mundus Stone. This provides raw Physical Penetration, which is extremely effective for long-range Bow pressure, especially against high-resistance targets.
✔️ All 64 Attribute Points go into Stamina. This build is designed to avoid damage through range and positioning rather than mitigation.
✔️ The recommended race is Orc for raw damage, speed, and sustain. Redguard and Imperial are also excellent alternatives depending on sustain preference.
Potions & Food
Immovable Potions are an option if you expect to be caught or pressured, as they grant crowd control immunity alongside recovery bonuses and a burst of resources. That said, Ballista should never be in danger if played correctly.
For that reason, Tri-Potions are recommended in most situations — they provide reliable sustain without sacrificing pressure or positioning.
